Pats on the Back for Jan. 27

A little thanks to those who've made South Cumberland County communities better.

Jessica Farmer of Hope Mills was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Chowan University in Murfreesboro. A student must have a grade point average between 3.25 and 3.79 for the semester to be named to the list.

Randal L. Menscer of Hope Mills earned a top 10 finish in the Aged Stallions category during the American Horse Association World Championships Show in Oklahoma City, Okla., in November. He finished in the top 10 riding Mr. More Phenomenal.
