Ribbon-cutting for Snap Fitness set for Monday
The Hope Mills Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday at Millstone Village for Snap Fitness. The ceremony is scheduled for noon to 1:30 p.m. Appetizers will be served.
Jack Britt gospel choir sets concert for April 24
The Jack Britt High School Gospel Choir has scheduled its eighth Choir Concert Celebration of Gospel 2010 at 7 p.m. April 24 at Grace and Truth Church, located at 3811 Murchison Road.

Sidewalk sale to benefit 'The Big Fix'
"The Big Fix" sidewalk sale is scheduled for April 3 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4900 S. Main St.
Unchain Cumberland County, a nonprofit group dedicated to the well-being of animals, is hosting the sale to help fund its spay and neuter program, The Big Fix.
"Adoptable animals are being euthanized every day because there are not enough homes for them,'' said Shelby Townsend, founder of the organization.
Unchain Cumberland County will participate in the Spring Blitz on May 1, sponsored by Operation Inasmuch. The group will organize the spaying and neutering of pets in a chosen community and will build at least one fence. "We will give doghouses, food, treats, bedding, toys, rabies shots; whatever is needed, to the pets in the Blitz project,'' Townsend said.
Chamber's Open House set for March 25
Ultimate Store Company, located at 2655 George Owen Road in Hope Mills, will sponsor the Hope Mills Area Chamber of Commerce's Open House on March 25 from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend the event and tour their facility. Everyone in attendance also will have the chance to win a door prize.
Woolford to tee off in Kiwanis tourney
The Hope Mills Kiwanis Club is having its 12th annual golf tournament Friday at Cypress Lakes Golf Course.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
Prizes will include an all-expenses paid trip to The Masters in Florida and four passes to the event.
Sponsorships can be purchased for $50 to $500.
Former Douglas Byrd High School standout Donnell Woolford, a member of the Clemson Hall of Fame and a former member of the NFL's Chicago Bears, will be one of the celebrity players.

Annual Easter Festival planned
The Hope Mills Parks and Recreation Department will hold its annual Easter Festival on March 27 at Hope Mills Municipal Park and the Recreation Center, located at 5766 Rockfish Road. The first event of the day will be "Breakfast With the Bunny" from 8 to 11 a.m. in the Community Room. Your family can visit with the Easter Bunny while enjoying pancakes, sausage and orange juice. The cost is $5 per person, paid at the door on the day of the breakfast. RSVP no later than Friday by calling 426-4107 or 426-4109.

The Adult Literacy Program of Fayetteville Urban Ministry needs compassionate tutors to help others read better. Tutor training, from 6 to 9 p.m., starts Tuesday.
